One thing we miss most about Bloomington, IN is the spectacular foliage in autumn. We also enjoyed apple picking, hiking, cider, the smell of burning leaves, and jumping in the leaves. Since fall occurs about 2 weeks later than Bloomington, we had plenty of time to plan.
Although Seoul is a huge metropolis, it contains and is surrounded by mountains filled with trees. There are also several parks with trees. I decided to take Robby and Christopher to Changgyeonggung Palace.
The boys had an exciting and energetic time. There were so thrilled to be able to run and jump and play in the leaves. The Koreans were equally amused with the boys.
Despite there being a number of people at the palace, it did not feel crowded and it was surprisingly quiet.
The palace had the standard buildings, gates, walls, and gardens. The boys appreciated enough for their age. Christopher studied the map intently and was able to identify (by the pictures) where we were.
The leaves were in their most vivid colors containing all stages of the fall: green, light green, yellow, orange, red, and brown.
The palace was very serene and it was nice to spend some quality time with the boys and not feel rushed. It was also a gorgeous day.
