Today was a good day! My heart soared with the pleasure of life, motherhood, and peaceful treasures. My day began at 5:15 as the baby awoke, which is an atypical pattern for this little one. Lying next to my husband, caressing my sweet girl's face, we quietly enjoyed a few minutes of cuddle time. Several minutes later, she began to fidget. Forcing myself out of bed, we retrieved to the living room. I fed her a bottle, adoring her sweet pumpkin face, and adorable grins. At 6:15 I placed her in her crib, and she drifted off to dreamland. I decided to go back to bed, to get a little more shut eye. My eyes reopened at 7:30 when my husband came in to kiss me goodbye. I slugged out of bed, swigged down the last cup of coffee, thinking to myself, "This is going to be a long day!" Despite my negative thinking, it has been an amazing day! My older two boys' left for school in peace, and the two youngest have been simply delightful. Needless to say, my day has handed me countless refreshments, bringing pleasure to my soul. Not refreshments in the form of food or beverage (although my coffee sure was yummy), but lasting refreshments which have enlightened, and refreshed my heart. Our routine has played out in normal fashion, yet there has been something special about today. I sat on the floor, tickling the baby, enjoyed moments of endless smiles from my little girl, and four year old boy, and we played Rescue Hero's on the back porch. During the baby's morning nap, Daniel watched a movie, and I sat on the porch. What a blessing? I love my porch!!! I never take this gift from God for granted, I spend many hours pondering His amazing works, as I watch the birds play, hear them singing beautiful angelic hymns, and gaze upon his creation and creatures. I enjoyed quiet time with my cup of coffee, an encouraging little chat with a friend, read 1 Corinthian's, and even accomplished a few household chores. Lunch came and went, a good friend spontaneously stopped by (seeing me in my unwashed self, nappy sweaty pants, and lazy day clothing), took my little monkey's for a neighborhood stroll, and finally put them down for their afternoon nap. After putting them down, I poured myself another cup of coffee, and enjoyed more quiet time, being enriched in God's word. Here I sit at 3:00 p.m. writing the details of my refreshing day. Believe me, not everyday as a stay at home mom, pans out as smoothly and calmly as today! Today, I took time to thank God for my ability to be home with my sweet children. I thanked Him for my husband who allows and encourages me to stay home and care for our little people. Today's blog, a simple story about my refreshing day as a mom. It is my prayer, you too, will have moment's, day's, and treasure's enriching your day as a mother. God provides endless refreshments for a mom's soul, ie... coffee, cool breeze blowing through windows, giggles, laughter, adorable faces, unexpected calls from the hubby, unexpected visits from friends, and His creation. Is it possible on days when mothering proves impossible, our hearts may not be turned toward Home? We haven't taken time to see God, to feel Him, and enrich our weary soul's with His word? Seek Him today and enjoy the countless benefits of His fulfilling refreshments.
